This golden statue features the Goddess of Mercy, Thousand Hand Kuan Yin, standing on her lotus throne.
Kuan Yin has omnipresent abilities to watch the universe in all directions at all times and to sense the afflictions of humanity because of the thousand eyes on the palms of the thousand hands. This Goddess of Infinite Mercy can also “lend a helping hand” to lessen the pain of other beings and distribute blessings, thanks to her thousand arms.
Kwan Yin (Kuan Yin, Guan Yin) is also known as the Goddess of Mercy. She is represented by the lotus flower, and is well known for her ability to bring peace and tranquility. In Mahayana Buddhism, her name is Avalokitesvara. She is revered as “One Who Hears the Cries of the World.” Kwan Yin reached a spiritual level where she could become an enlightened Buddha, elevated beyond life and death, but instead she chose to stay on Earth to help mankind improve their karma. She also is said to be able to help overcome depression, grief, illness, or any other major obstacles keeping one from peace. She is also a goddess of fertility, and is often shown holding a child. She grants children to childless couples. Chant her mantra “Om Mani Padme Hum” to protect you and your family from harm.
Where to place the Goddess of Mercy, Kuan Yin :
1. Place Kuan Yin at your praying altar, as she is a deity who can be prayed to. You may chant her mantra at least once a day, to overcome any challenges or obstacles you are facing.
2. Place the the Goddess of Mercy, Kuan Yin, by the main entrance, facing outwards to counteract any negative chi entering the home. Furthermore, by stifling negative forces, Kuan Yin’s facade will work to eradicate evil and bestow safe blessings upon your house.
3. Place Kuan Yin in prominent locales in your living room or main family room to create luck with health and relationships for your household. She will diffuse disagreements and tensions among family members. But try not to be crass or swear while you’re around her; you should treat her with respect.
4. Invite Kuan Yin to the homes of childless couples who have been trying hard but haven’t had a child for several years after getting married.
