Usually portrayed seated with a jar of medicine in his left hand, often blue-colored, the Medicine Buddha’s right hand is resting on his knee in the mudra of blessings, holding a stem of a myrobalan healing plant. Buddha Vairocana, otherwise known as the “Great Illuminator”, is said to be the sum of all the Five Dhyani Buddhas and combines all their qualities.
