Ganesha is the God of wisdom, master of intellect and knowledge, lord of education and bestower of luck and fortune.
This elephant-headed deity Ganesh, or Ganesha, is one of the most popular Gods in Hinduism. Also known as many names in different Indian dialects such as Ganapati, Ganpati, Ganeshji, Vinayaka, Vinayakudu or lord Ganesh, his statues can be found in most Indian towns. The son of Shiva and Parvati, he’s the God of wisdom, master of intellect and knowledge, lord of education and bestower of luck and fortune. As he is a remover of obstacles and God of success, he’s worshiped and honored before the undertaking of any task such as a journey, a business venture, taking an examination, building a house etc.
The Ganesha statue is full of symbolism. His elephant head signifies infinite wisdom, the large ears – ability to listen well. The trunk symbolizes the adaptability while the tusks represent wisdom and emotion. His large stomach is for peacefully digesting all the good and bad things in life. His four arms indicate that the Lord is omnipotent and omnipresent.
