This six syllable invocation can be translated to “Hail the Jewel in the Lotus” is the mantra of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion who protects one from harm. The Bodhisattva vowed to free all sentient beings from suffering and is said to appear anywhere to help all beings in danger and distress.
